Student Comments
Many students have provided very encouraging comments at the end-of-term evaluations, and here is a collection of comments. Listed below are student comments for just one course.
In Fall 2023, I taught Making Financial Decisions, a Non-BBA level core course at the University of Michigan Ross School of Business. Here are some nice things my students said about this course.
| The professor providing an abundant amount of resources for the students outside of class to further engage with the material was particularly helpful. I also believe that providing the class slides in advance of the class period was very helpful in being able to focus on the auditory part of in-person lecture and not worrying about getting everything down from the slides. |
| Incredible and knowledgeable professor. The course runs like a well oiled machine. The website and use of technology on the whole is incredible. |
| The trivia in groups is a great way to make sure kids are meeting each other and just good way to learn. |
| Clear lectures & recordings of lectures. Lots of solutions and practice available |
| Clear objectives for every class, many ways to test understanding of topics, many practice problems available |
| Professor Lei’s teaching and commitment to this class |
| I believe the idea of trivia groups and weekly trivia questions is smart because it definitely helped me feel like I was on pace or what my questions were in the course. I also liked the wide range of office hours provided throughout the week and how the professor or TAs were able to promptly answer my questions. The professor also provided us with a decent amount o study material before exams, so I knew what was to be expected of me even if the exam was going to be challenging. |
| The rigor of the content and the overall structure/organization of the course. |
| I really liked the opportunity to retake the midterms though I never actually retook the exam. I thought having the normal exam on a Monday and the retake on Friday was a good amount of time for people who had to study more. This also encouraged me to complete and understand the homeworks as they weren’t submitted for credit. |
| This course was definitely very organized and structured, which I really appreciated it. I knew what was expected of me and Professor Lei delivered material in a clear, thoughtful manner. |
| The connect problem help, and the past lecture recordings for the class were very helpful for studying before exams. |
| strengths of the course include learning about practical knowledge in one chunk of time in class, having an extremely straightforward textbook that applied to our course material, straightforward nature of the slides used in class, great collaboration between professor Qin Lei and students. Professor Lei was so helpful and supportive to students and their understanding |
| I really liked how the 3 hour section was split up into information and problem solving. It was very helpful to have problems to solidify what the material was and how we would be quizzed and tested on the material. |
| This course was very organized. It was always clear what was expected of us in terms of trivia, exams, and in lecture. The professor was also very prepared for every lecture and had plenty of material to discuss throughout the lecture. Moreover, there were very good resources accessible to students in order to prepare for exams. |
