Student Comments

Many students have provided very encouraging comments at the end-of-term evaluations, and here is a collection of comments. Listed below are student comments for just one course.

In Summer 2025, I taught Financial Management and Policy, an OMBA level core course at the University of Michigan Ross School of Business. Here are some nice things my students said about this course.

Qin was great! The resource material was also great.
I love the course. There should be more courses like this
I don’t have much to add for course improvements, as I found this class to be impressive and one of, if not the best, executions of a course in the OMBA program.
I liked the live examples.
I believe the Live Synchronous session for this course were very effective at teaching the course material, and included great resources for study material. I think the Asynchronous modules were a little too basic, and did not require enough engagement from the students. It was very easy for me to follow what was covered in the Asynchronous modulesÍž however, I never had to stress my mind during them the same way I did in preparation for the live sessions and in the live sessions. One very minor critique of the live sessions would be that there was prep work expected for the sessions, but at the beginning of each live session we were given a template for how to do the prework. I appreciated having the template after the fact, but I think it was tempting to try to use it during the session as well which didn’t facilitate us discussing our own approaches as much as we maybe otherwise would have.
Definitely the live session materials.
The professors and ISS were all extremely knowledgeable about the subject material and are extremely accessible. They also want to ensure that everyone understands the course material through the graded quizzes.
step by step walkthrough of real world problems is awesome. Easy to understand and follow. Also loved that queizz Qs were along same lines, no curverballs. Hope final exam is same.
You can tell the instructors really care about Finance and deeply want the students to learn the material.
I loved that the videos where broken down in small bits with heavy concepts
Gave a very clear picture of finance at its core, broke down the elements of finance into chunks that were digestible and provided immediate application of the concepts.
Explains Finances in a very digestible way - almost so much so that the video are redundant at times
The material and the way it was taught were strength
The asynchronous models really broke out things well into digestible pieces!
I enjoyed this class and the *flipped classroom* style. I had never taken a finance course before, but I was able to keep up and found the content engaging and interesting. The team/classmate interaction was executed well.
I believe the asynchronous modules were really clear and helped me capture the basics. I also really liked how the class notes are shared so I can focus on following along instead of detailed note taking.
Good structure that builds on each lesson
The asynchronous modules do a great job of explaining the concepts behind the material. The practice assessments were helpful in preparing for the actual quizzes.
applicable to the real world
clearly explained; managable workload; good pacing
The asynchronous modules
I thought the course was fair and the learning objectives were complete.
