Many students have provided very encouraging comments at the end-of-term evaluations, and here is a collection of comments. Listed below are student comments for just one course.
In Fall 2022, I taught Making Financial Decisions, a Non-BBA level core course at the University of Michigan Ross School of Business. Here are some nice things my students said about this course.
| 1 | Dr. Lei had tons of material available for studying and understanding the course. His website was incredible, and I never once felt like I did not have the resource to understand something I was confused about. It was great to have video solutions and written solutions to every problem even when they could be perceived as easy. The practice exams were very representative of the exams as well which was extremely helpful. I really appreciate how much he cares for his students as well. |
| 2 | I loved that there was a focus on the equations in class. The one note documents that were accessible beyond the classroom were especially helpful for me. typically, teachers wont release such notes because they want students to write down the solutions themselves. However, I personally find note taking very distracting and this class was the first time I had a professor that acknowledge my struggle. Thank you! I also felt that Professor Lei was extremely approachable and contactable after class. Professor Lei consistently remained after class to answer a number of personal questions that students had. Most Professors would not spend the time to stick around for that long. Additionally, Professor Lei was quick to respond to all emails and posts on piazza, which was very helpful. Lastly, it was always known what was expected of each student in the class. If you put in time and effort, your grade will most likely reflect your true level of knowledge because Professor Lei clearly outlines what needs to be know. This class was really enjoyable to take, thank you! |
| 3 | This course introduced me to many concepts that I think will be useful in my personal investing career. I came in looking for information on how to value stocks and bonds and ended up learning and being interested in so much more. Professor Lei emphasized in the beginning of the course that intuition is incredibly important in finance, and I think he did an excellent job of conveying his financial intuition to us as well as anyone could in 1 course that effectively meets for 100 minutes per week. |
